WebKinz Don’t Need No Petmeds

I finally cave in to my 7-year old son's wishes to have a house pet. I know, I know, for most of you, that's perhaps a tad bit late to be giving it to such requests, but see, we live in a tiny flat, and we have an infant in the house, too. I take pet care as big responsibility and I really wasn't sure just how much of the work my 7-yr old can assume. Since he also suffers from a range of allergies, we were also kind of limited in terms of choices. A virtual pet like WebKinz would have been ideal, I suppose, but then he wasn't that web-savvy yet, and I wasn't entirely convinced a make-believe world is a good way to get to know the world wide web ( even though, that's what it actually is).
In the end, we've opted for a small aquarium with 8 little fishies. It's been a couple of months, and so far it's working out alright. The fishies are surviving (we haven't had to get Petmeds yet), and just as importantly, WE are surviving, too!
If you were asked to exchange your Webkinz Pet into a real-life pet, what would it be?
