Common sense trading

Filed in archive webkinz by Michelle Donahue Hillison on December 19, 2007

We've been getting a lot of emails and posts about trading issues so I wanted to give you all some things to consider.

1. If the deal looks too good for you, there is a pretty good chance it is a scam.

2. If the deal looks too good for you and isn't a scam, odds are it is someone who doesn't know better and you have a responsibility to not make bad trades like that. A good trade is when everyone gets what they want.

3. If someone won't post their username on the thread, there is a pretty good chance it is a scam.

4. If you feel uncomfortable, ask for a middleman to help. Have both of you send your items to the middlemanlinks and then the middleman send the items to the other person.

5. If another user politely tells you the deal is unfair, don't be a jerk - listen.

6. Remember sometimes people can't get online for various reasons. Give people a few hours or day to make good on a trade.

7. Be clear about what you want and what you can send. Ask questions if you aren't clear. Make sure you actually have the item - and the right item. Understand there is a difference in Pumpkin and Phantom Pop, in the '06 and '07 Halloween gates, in a 'black belt' and the retired 'big black belt', on and on.

8. No one has to accept a deal they don't want. People can pick and choose who they trade with on here.

9. Don't be paranoid but don't be a fool either. Ask people if they've ever traded with someone before if you need to. It isn't an insult, it is just being safe.

10. If you are going to trade for a pet code, be very very very careful and make sure it is from someone you know very well because they can then access your account.

And as always, don't post your personal info here or ask for it from others. Don't get mad when someone tells you not to post it either.
